Nationality
British Nationality law is the most complicated legislation in the UK statute book, yet there are many ways to obtain British Nationality. These include, after completing the probationary period, Indefinite Leave to Remain, Marriage, Registering a child as a British national, and through Right of Abode in the UK.
Naturalisation is a discretionary award of citizenship and the Secretary of State may grant a Certificate of Naturalisation to a person of full age and capacity if he satisfies certain conditions. The United Kingdom allows dual nationality. This means that you can become a British National without necessarily giving up citizenship of your country of origin. However, you are advised to check this with the authorities of the country of your origin. You are not required to obtain British Nationality but we strongly advise you to do so because there are many advantages of being a British Citizen.
